Student Interaction Lead, Technology Access Centre

Richard Burman serves as the Faculty and Student Lead for Applied Research at Camosun Innovates. He brings a diverse background in education, mechanical engineering, biomechanics, ergonomics, and health.Β
After earning a BSc in Physiotherapy from the University of British Columbia, Richard worked as a physiotherapist for over 10 years before returning to school to complete a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering at ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ. He joined Camosun Innovates in 2010, focusing on sport innovation, and has since worked as a technical team lead and project manager on a wide range of engineering and applied research projects.Β
In 2020, Richard completed his Masterβs in Education. In his current role, he creates opportunities for applied learning across the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ community. He teaches in capstone courses and designs cross-curricular educational content for students and faculty. Richard uses a human-centered design approach to connect applied research with teaching and learning - helping bring real-world industry experience into the classroom.Β
