With 20 points in the match and a solid fifty-six percentage on the offense, Vitor Pereira (Isabel Hendrix/Brazil) was named Chargers Player of the Match. Pereira and Eduardo Bida (Colegio Gabarito) accounted for a combined 32 points, including 25 kills.

“The Camosun Chargers men’s volleyball team completed an incredible season with the ultimate prize, National Championship gold,” said 鶹Լ President, Lane Trotter. “The hard work and dedication the athletes and coaches committed this season paid off in the biggest way. On behalf of everyone at the college, congratulations Chargers!”

On the tournament, Lorenz Vogel(Claremont Secondary/Victoria, BC) was named to the Second Team All-Star, Bida to the First Team All-Star, and Pereira picked up Most Valuable Player (MVP).

“We couldn’t be more proud of what the team and the coaches have accomplished this year and winning national gold is icing on the cake,” said Vice President, Student Experience, Heather Cummings. “They remained calm and confident throughout the tournament, staying focussed on the work to be done. Congratulations Chargers!”

For the graduating players Pereira, Morgan Humphreys (Reynolds Secondary/Victoria, BC), and Dale McConnell (Pacific Christian/Victoria, BC) and retiring head coach Charles Parkinson, this was the most incredible way to end the season.

“I couldn't be happier for every member of this team. Our players bought into the game plan and our execution was really exceptional,” said Parkinson. “Each year we structure our seasonal plan so we peak at the right moment and this season it worked out perfectly. Going 3-0 in matches and winning nine straight sets at a National Championship is a phenomenal accomplishment.

“We're extremely proud of our players and the resilience and control they showed,” added Parkinson. “Our focus was on the process, but in the end there's nothing like winning a Championship to make your weekend!”

The Chargers defeated the Vancouver Island University (VIU) Mariners 3-2 in the Pacific Western Athletic Association (PACWEST) championship to advance to the CCAA National Championship.
