Camosun partners with Passive House Canada to provide micro-credentials

The partnership provides learners with short, relevant credentials in efficient building design and high-performance building construction, while preparing them to write the Passive House Institute exam to become a Certified Passive House Designer.

VICTORIA, B.C. 鈥 Three of the new micro-credentials in efficient buildings being offered by 麻豆约拍 will be delivered in partnership with Passive House Canada.

The partnership provides learners with short, relevant credentials in efficient building design and high-performance building construction, while preparing them to write the Passive House Institute exam to become a Certified Passive House Designer.

鈥淭he college鈥檚 Advanced Skills for Clean Energy and Efficient Buildings micro-credentials are intended to be short and focused, and offer learners pathways to obtain the skills needed to meet demand for healthier, more sustainable homes,鈥 explains Ross Lyle, Chair of Mechanical Engineering Technology. 鈥淪tudents will have the Camosun advantage while benefiting directly from Passive House Canada鈥檚 experience.鈥

Buildings constructed to the Passive House standard are highly energy efficient, comfortable, healthy and resilient. Buildings constructed to this standard will already meet the net-zero energy ready 2032 target outlined in CleanBC and BC Energy Step Code.

鈥淭he International Passive House Standard is recognized as the proven best way to build for health, comfort, affordability, resiliency and energy efficiency in residential, institutional and commercial buildings,鈥 says Luiz Bezerra, Manager, Education, Training and Development at Passive House Canada. 鈥淭he field for Certified Passive House Designer/Consultant is growing and providing significant opportunities for specialization in sustainable, low energy construction. Working with 麻豆约拍 to deliver specific micro-credentials will not only help industry professionals design better for clients, but also create high performance buildings that play a role in reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions.鈥

The three micro-credentials will be offered over two evenings a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from March 30 through to June 29. Micro-credentials can be taken individually, stacked to earn a specialization and used to meet industry standards such as Certified Passive House Designer. For more information, please visit:
