A student who has overcome significant personal challenges; (e.g. homelessness, addiction, etc.) or a student with developmental challenges (Down's Syndrome, etc.). Enrolled and in good standing in a School of Access program or course (either on a full or part time basis). Has been a role model in encouraging/interacting with others in class and/or in their community. Has demonstrated effort in attendance, quality of work, and displayed a personal commitment to their schooling. Has showed significant personal academic achievement by making progress in meeting their academic goals. Where the student started in their studies and where they are currently in the process of meeting their own goals should be considered.
In 2010, the family established this award to support Access students who have overcome significant personal challenges.

Any Access student
Student must:
- Have overcome significant personal challenges (e.g. homelessness, addiction, etc.) or with developmental challenges (Down's Syndrome, etc.).
- Has been a role model in encouraging/interacting with others in class and/or in their community.
- Has demonstrated effort in attendance, quality of work, and displayed a personal commitment to their schooling.
- Has showed significant personal academic achievement by making progress in meeting their academic goals. Where the student started in their studies and where they are currently in the process of meeting their own goals should be considered.
